The original terrace which now forms the Portaferry Hotel dates back to the mid-18th century and was formerly used for private dwellings. Recent extensions have been carried out with great care taken to preserve the unique character of this charming waterside inn, located in a designated area of conservation.

The superbly appointed bedrooms at the Portaferry Hotel are individually furnished, combining all the charm of this village with the facilities expected by today's business or leisure travellers. Many of the rooms have superb waterside views and all have private bathrooms ensuite, remote control television and radio, direct dial telephone and hairdryer. In keeping with the restful ambience throughout the hotel, the bedrooms have been designed with your peace and quiet in mind.
Facilities
The hotel's award winning restaurant uses the best of local produce including prime Ulster beef, Mourne lamb and game from neighbouring estates. Pride is taken in the use of fresh seasonal vegetables, often organically grown. However the speciality for which the Portaferry has gained international reputation is it's seafood, landed daily ay the fishing villages of Portavogie and Ardglass. Diners can enjoy an abundance of freshly caught prawns, turbot, brill sole, scallops, lobster and mussels.
