Rathmullan House, a 4 star Country House, is situated on the shores of Lough Swilly, Co Donegal in the North West region of Ireland. Accommodation
Inside, three elegant sitting rooms, tastefully furnished with antiques and paintings, provide slumbering comfort with views over the garden and lough. Log fires keep them cosy in winter.
The pavilion-like dining room with its unusual tented ceiling is renowned for good food and its generous, prize winning breakfast. Bedrooms vary in decor, facilities and cost, form simple family rooms to luxurious mini-suites.
Facilities
An outstanding feature of Rathmullan House is the glowing silk Arabian tent designed dining room where the cooking is in Irish Country House style. Where possible, organic fruit, vegetables and herbs are used from the walled garden.
Locally caught fish and seafood is a speciality, as is Donegal lamb, which can be described as A gastronomes term for the wonderful flavour the meat takes on due to the grazing enriched by wind-borne deposits of minerals from salty sea air.
The breakfast buffet at Rathmullan House defies description: suffice to say that it is imaginative, generous and wide-ranging and has won awards. The dining room is open to non-resident and Sunday lunch. Vegetarians are catered for.
