One of Irelands and indeed one of Europes oldest and finest hotels, the Shelbourne Hotel has been a focal point in Irish history and life since it opened its doors in 1824. The hotel was one of the first buildings of the period to have indoor electric lighting, and since then has consistently set the standards which other hotels have followed. In the 1922, the hotel played a very important part in the founding of the Irish nation when the Irish Constitution was drafted in room 112, now known as The Constitution Room. In more recent times, the hotel has continued to remain ahead of the rest, offering a fabulous standard of facilities, comfort and service, which is often copied but rarely ever equalled.Major refurbishments start on the 14h of March
Each of the Shelbourne's luxuriously equipped and exquisitely decorated en suite rooms and suites come complete with remote control satellite televisions, radios, direct dial telephones, modem points, trouser presses, and mini bars. Additionally, each of the suites has its own private sitting room. Many of the beautiful hotels Georgian rooms and suites are situated at the front of the hotel, overlooking the magnificent park on St. Stephens Green. The Shelbourne Bar is a nostalgic Dublin bar, decorated with unique cartoons by Martyn Turner of Dublin society and other famous figures. It serves an excellent pint of Guinness and is renowned for it's traditional Dubliner's bar Menu. The Horseshoe Bar has been a famous landmark in the city of Dublin for over 50 years, and is genuinely popular with guests and locals of a certain set from politicians to playwrights. The bar is decorated in an understated Gatsby style, with the great mirrors disguising a deceptively small setting.

The Lord Mayors Tea room is something of an institution within the Hotel and in Dublin itself. Afternoon tea at The Shelbourne reflects with care memories of a bygone age of Edwardian gentleness. The room is also popular for morning meetings. Coffee & refreshments are of course served all day.
