One of Irelands and indeed one of Europes oldest and finest hotels, the Shelbourne Hotel has been a focal point in Irish history and life since it opened its doors in 1824. The hotel was one of the first buildings of the period to have indoor electric lighting, and since then has consistently set the standards which other hotels have followed. In the 1922, the hotel played a very important part in the founding of the Irish nation when the Irish Constitution was drafted in room 112, now known as The Constitution Room. Each of the Shelbourne's luxuriously equipped and exquisitely decorated en suite rooms and suites come complete with remote control satellite televisions, radios, direct dial telephones, modem points, trouser presses, and mini bars. The Shelbourne Bar is a nostalgic Dublin bar, decorated with unique cartoons by Martyn Turner of Dublin society and other famous figures. It serves an excellent pint of Guinness and is renowned for it's traditional Dubliner's bar Menu. The Horseshoe Bar has been a famous landmark in the city of Dublin for over 50 years, and is genuinely popular with guests and locals of a certain set from politicians to playwrights. The bar is decorated in an understated Gatsby style, with the great mirrors disguising a deceptively small setting.
