Zetland Country House Hotel stands on the edge of Cashel Bay in Connemara. The House, built originally as a Sporting Lodge in the early 1800s, derives its name from the Earl of Zetland, a frequent visitor in the last century. 19 beautifully appointed room command breathtaking views of the gardens and Cashel Bay. All rooms are ensuite and include direct dial telephones, tea / coffee making facilities and satellite televisions. From the main reception rooms and bedrooms, you look over gardens rich in flowers, shrubs and trees, sweeping down to the Bay and Atlantic Ocean.

Dining and Amenities

Richard Hart, the resident chef writes menus daily using the freshest of local ingredients. Guests will be treated to culinary delights, accompanied by a sizeable wine list, including many options on half bottles. Other facilities include tennis courts and a billiards room. However there are many other outdoor activities which guests can avail of: hill walking, golf and fishing.

Location

From Galway take the N59 in the direction of Clifden via Oughterard, Maam Cross and Recess (Srath Salach on some maps). 1.5 miles after Recess take a left turn where the hotel is signposted. Three miles further on there is a right turn where you will see another signpost. Zetland Country House is situated on the right hand side 0.8 of a mile from there. Nearest Airports: Galway - 1 hour. Shannon - 2.5 hours.
